Good Morning and a Happy Friday to all of you and especially to fans of local jam band favorites Umphrey's McGee who certainly didn't react in a mellow tone and took it as an insult that Lisa didn't include the band's Ravinia debut in our post on the festival's 2014 schedule. Hopefully your over-the-top reaction died down (with or without the use of mood-altering substances) and you started planning your picnic baskets for the July 25 show. It wasn't a slight on our part and it could be worse; Mike & Joe are still relegated to the street fest circuit this summer.
Let's put it all behind us and focus on today and the boost in the mercury. And by "boost" we mean a high in the mid-20s. It's the end of meteorological winter, according to Skilling Central, yet we're still stuck in conditions more akin to January.
There's cloud cover right now and that signals... snow. Yes, Chicago, we're due to receive anywhere between two to four inches of snow from Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Expect some snowfall overnight but not enough to break out a new set of dibs. Seriously, if we're looking to get past this winter we need to start acting as though it's almost over. Keep the chairs, sawhorses and cardboard boxes inside or in the trash, please.
