Huge news for fans of chicken sandwiches that don't weigh on one's conscience. Leghorn, the highly touted shop from Jared Van Camp's Element Collective, is opening Thursday, March 6.
Leghorn partner Chris Dexter spoke with Chicagoist last October when they announced their Ukrainian Village location at 959 N. Western. Dexter poised Leghorn as something of an anti-Chick-fil-A, promised to donate a portion of their profits to gay rights groups and use only locally sourced chicken, produce and other foodstuffs.
"It's meant to be our version of a socially-conscious fast food joint, with some authenticity and integrity," explained Dexter.
The menu by Van Camp and chef Sieger Bayer will focus on two types of chicken sandwiches: pickle brined and Nashville-style "hot" chicken. Sandwiches will be served either on a bun or biscuit with housemade dill pickles. They'll also have rotating specials like fried chicken skins, chicken fried fries and chicken nuggets.
Leghorn will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. daily until they run out of food.
