We’re still picking up the pieces of our sanity from this winter. And if you’re a parent, you’re probably familiar with piecing things back together. Channel all of this together and bring your kids out for the next Family Day at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Their April 12th event will have kids, parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents alike working their creative side, sifting through everyday objects to create collages and structures.

We’re fans of hands-on experience with art here, and the MCA constantly delivers that, really making a trip to the museum a fun and memorable experience. If that weren’t reason enough, they've also got one of the best museum gift shops in the city. Family day runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 12th and admission is free if you've brought along children who are 12 and under. Family Days are a recurring thing, held every second Saturday of the month and led by Chicago based artists, giving you a chance to literally be in touch with the local art scene, and to do it as a family. Go enjoy making something, and to quote a certain bus driver from our youth “Take chances, make mistakes and get messy!”
