Blue Line passengers, especially those of you traveling to and from O'Hare International Airport, better plan some extra time for your commutes this weekend. Track work on the line will force closures of the Western (Milwaukee/Armitage), California and Logan Square stations from 10 p.m. March 21 through 4 a.m. March 24.

The closures and track work are part of CTA's $492 million Your New Blue project aimed at modernizing the O'Hare Branch of the route from Grand to O'Hare, leading to smoother, faster commutes to the airport. During the closure crews will be replacing wooden rail ties, tie plates and other track materials between Damen and Logan Square. The original rail line on which that section of the Blue Line exists first opened in 1895 and will require 10 temporary weekend closures between March and August. The next closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, April 4, through 4 a.m. Monday, April 7.
