[UPDATE, 11:30 a.m.; Three-day passes have sold out. A limited number of VIP Passes, Platinum Passes and Travel Packages are still available while supplies last.]
If the Greg Kot leak of Eminem, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys and Skrillex has you super excited for this August in Grant Park, get your refresh finger ready. Lollapalooza will release their three-day passes today at 10 a.m. with a limited number of early bird passes available for $225. When those sell out (which they will, quickly) regular priced three-day passes will be available for $250. Those prices include all service fees as well. If you really want to make it rain come August, VIP Lolla Louge passes, platinum passes and travel packages will also be up for grabs starting today. No word yet on when single day tickets will be available for purchase but it looks like they will run you $100 per day. Tickets can be purchased here.
The gamble is Lolla hasn't released the full lineup for the festival yet so you are buying tickets for a festival with no concrete knowledge of the lineup. So far only rumors of potential headliners have came from Greg Kot's usually credible source, which has been spot on in the past with predictions. Then again for many, Lollapalooza isn't about the music but more about having a soundtrack in the background while you get drunk with your coworkers on overpriced wine and lobster corn dogs. Nothing wrong with that, just the festival has seen a shift in recent years from a focus on music to a focus on the festival experience. That said, we're still interested to see who will make the rest of the lineup and look forward to the announcement of aftershows, which is the best bet for catching some of the acts Lolla weekend in a more intimate environment with a longer set.
Lollapalooza happens Aug. 1-3 in Grant Park.
