Burlington Combines Psych And Doom With Slippery Kingdom

By Sarah Cobarrubias in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 27, 2014 3:00PM

2014_3_26_SlipperyFest.jpg We find ourselves at The Burlington more often these days since the Logan Square venue amped up its live music schedule and booked an eclectic variety of acts that have us willing to brave the cold. So it’s not surprising that they’re introducing a new, two-day fest that combines two seemingly mismatched genres—Slippery Kingdom is half psychedelic and half doom metal. Weird off-kilter stuff you probably heard while stoned at a basement show.

Day one (dubbed Acid in the Grass) will showcase psych and garage rock acts with a special debut by Cities of the Interior (it’s comprised of members of Ant’lrd and Disappears). Our beloved garage-rocking sixties revivalists Uh Bones and grimy pop punks The Sueves will also take the stage.

The doom kicks in on day two (In Another Land) with some heavier tunes from Wizard Castle, Cokegoat and the appropriately named Creepy Band. Check out the full lineup below.
