Hop To It At The Field Museum Tonight

By Marielle Shaw in Food on Apr 3, 2014 3:00PM

We know. It’s really rather dreary out, isn't it? Worse still, it’s not quite Friday. Turns out the cure for what’s ailing you is…ale. If you aren't following Chicago’s favorite tyrant lizard on her twitter account, then you may have missed an opportunity for after-hours museum hi-jinks and drinks. Hop to It at the Field Museum brings you to Sue and face to face with the brewmasters from Off Color Brewing, who created the Field Museum’s own exclusive beer, Tooth & Claw.

Aside from the suds, guests to the event will be able to peruse Egyptian beer vessels and measuring tools not normally on display, and Jim Phillips, curator of the Inside Ancient Egypt exhibit, will be discussing how it was done in the old days; 3000 BC, to be more precise. There will be a Q&A and some extra surprises we’re excited about from behind the scenes collections.

Visitors will of course get to taste the beer, tipping over a full two pints with the ticket price, and the Field Bistro will be providing some food pairings to try with the tasty pilsner. In addition, you’ll be adding a Tooth & Claw pint glass to your collection. You can also feel good about your brews, because ticket proceeds go directly to support the Field Museum.

We’re glad it’s not snowing anymore, but this weather makes us cagey. We’d rather be Nick Cagey and explore the wilds of a great museum after dark, pint in hand. Wouldn't you? Tickets are still on sale for the next 8 hours, so gather some bones and get yourself a ticket.
