CTA is moving forward with its overhaul of the O’Hare Blue Line branch and riders looking to work, play or run errands around the Damen and Western stations on the line this weekend should plan ahead.

Trains will not operate between the two stations from 10 p.m. Friday night until 4 a.m. April 7 while crews work on improving the tracks between the two stations. The work will include replacing wooden rail ties, tie plates and other track materials on the Milwaukee elevated track structure, parts of which are being held together with ropes, spit and bailing wire. Additionally, North Avenue will be closed to all through traffic between Milwaukee and Hoyne. North Avenue buses will be detoured and operate via Damen, Division, and Western to North Avenue.

CTA recommends Blue Line riders give themselves an extra 10-15 minutes to get to where they’re going.
