Cincinnati 4, Cubs 1

The Cubs offensive woes continued at Wrigley Field Friday as they extended their scoreless streak to 25 innings before Luis Valbuena came through with an RBI in the seventh inning. The inability to score runs and some bad fielding guaranteed a loss for starter Jeff Samardzija. The Shark allowed three runs but only one of them was earned, prompting manager Rick Renteria to have a meeting with his players after the game about sloppy play.

Texas 12, White Sox 0
The White Sox assigned reliever Donnie Veai for assignment Thursday yet Felipe Paulino still holds a spot in the rotation. Paulino's days may be numbered if he continues to put up a pitching line like the one he had Friday night at the Ballpark in Arlington: 3-2/3 innings; 10 runs; 13 hits; three walks; three strikeouts; two home runs allowed. The Sox are showing some signs of promise but they need to solve their bullpen woes and the Paulino connundrum ASAP.
