THREE TO SEE: This Week's Theater Recommendations

'Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England' at Theater Wit.
Chicago was awash with chilling dramas last week, so it’s only fitting that a few sidesplitting comedies (and a classic musical) take the stage this week.
Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England
The title’s a mouthful, but Madeleine George’s dry, witty comedy about a small-town college dean and her struggle to keep the school’s ill-used natural history museum open just got an extended run. Museums, sex and politics? We’re in. The show runs through Saturday, May 17.
Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont, 773-975-8150 or online.
Just as it did with last season’s Oklahoma, the Lyric Opera is putting its spin on another musical theater classic. This time, it’s Maria and the kids in The Sound of Music (with Billy Zane as Captain von Trapp, no less). The show runs through Sunday, May 25.
Lyric Opera, 20 N. Wacker Dr., 312-827-5600 or online.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
We’re getting our yuks in at Porchlight’s sure-to-be slapdash, zany production of How to Succeed, a satirical look at office politics that follows an enterprising window-washer-turned-business-exec. The show runs through Sunday, June 1.
Porchlight Music Theatre, Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, 773-327-5252 or online.
