Get Nice And Steamy With Hot Victory

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on May 10, 2014 3:00PM

There are a million two-piece bands out there nowadays, but there aren't many that are comprised of two drummers. Portland's Hot Victory eschews the guitars and goes straight for the beat, augmenting their double drum attack with samples and synths. The result is both mesmerizing and groovy.

Ben Stoller and Caitlin Love play off each other beautifully, creating rhythmic trances with enough power behind them to keep you dancing instead of nodding off to sleep. This is music for both the rocker and the club goers; even with the synths pumping the sound up the heart is all analog percussion. It's quite lovely.

Give Hot Victory's debut a spin below, and if you like it as much as we do you can catch the band this weekend at Double Door.

Hot Victory plays Sunday, May 11, at Double Door, 1572 N Milwaukee, 8 p.m., $15, 21+
