One of the nicknames that has stuck with the Cubs over the decades is "The Lovable Losers" yet prior to this season the team's primary measuring stick for that moniker has been its 105-year (and counting) World Series drought.
The Cubs 5-2 loss to Atlanta at Turner Field Sunday marked the 10,000th loss in the franchise's history. They join the Phillies and Braves as the only Major League Baseball teams to lose 10,000 games and the current rebuilding plan allowed them to reach the mark faster than they should have. Since 2010 the Cubs have played .417 baseball.
The Cubs, coincidentally are also one of four teams with 10,000 wins. The Braves are also on that list, as are the Giants. The Los Angeles Dodgers joined this club May 1 with a 604 win over Minnesota.
