Those rains predicted for Sunday afternoon and evening arrived with a stunning ferocity. We could see a repeat performance this afternoon and evening as an unstable air mass will help dictate today's weather. The warm air will likely result in some intense thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening, possibly with some hail and gusty winds. the temps, meanwhile, will remain muggy and reach for the upper 80s. The forecast is not what people across the area still cleaning up from yesterday's blitzkrieg of showers will want to hear. Some portions of the area were hit hard, with thousands of homes in the suburbs lacking power and over 100 flights canceled at P'Hare and Midway Airports.
