A rise in shootings with warm weather is unfortunately as Chicago as losing baseball, corrupt politicians and the wind blowing off the lake. Monday’s warm and humid weather brought with it a spate of shootings across the city. At least a dozen people were shot between Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning.

Four men were shot in an incident in Little Village around 11:15 p.m. The men were standing on the 3400 block of West 24th street when another man opened fire, walked to a dark-color sedan, and drove away. One 18-year-old was shot in the buttocks; a 38-year-old man was hit in the thigh; one 26-year-old was shot in the buttocks; and another 26-year-old man was grazed in the head. All four men are admitted gang members and police believe the incident is gang-related.

In other shootings, a 21-year-old and 33-year-old were shot on East 121st Street; a 31-year-old man was shot on the 400 block of East 126th Place; a 16-year-old boy was shot on the 3300 block of West Maypole; and a 17-year-old was shot in Englewood after an argument on a CTA bus.
