Pencil This In: Bridgeport Sidewalk Sale May 18

South Halsted Street in Bridgeport, once a booming retail district, has been slowly showing new signs of life with small businesses staking claims along the street hoping to find success as well as become integral parts of the community.

The Bridgeport Business Association has organized a sidewalk sale May 18 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. that brings together several businesses along Halsted from 32nd street to 35th Street and on 35th between Halsted and Union Avenue. Among the deals being offered are:

- 20 percent off storewide sale at Chitown Pickers,
- $5 coupons from Gio’s Cafe ,
- Crafts, massages and more at Jackalope Coffee & Tea,
-Handmade goodies at Hardscrabble Gifts,
-Specials on vintage music gear at 312 Vintage Guitars,
- Get your bike tuned at Blue City Cycles,
- Potions galore at Augustine’s Spiritual Gifts,
- Treats for your pups and kitties at Bark n’Bites,
- Pet sitting services from Walkies
- Electronics sales and service from A and B Electronics
- Libations at Mitchell’s Tap

With the weather warming for Sunday this would be a great opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and explore the small businesses opening in the Neighborhood of Mayors.
