Pencil This In: 'Jessye Norman: Stand Up Straight And Sing' At The School Of The Art Institute

In Stand Up Straight and Sing! American opera legend Jessy Norman tells the story of her rise from segregated Augusta, Georgia to the world's grandest stages in an honest, unflinching manner. The five-time Grammy Award winner will discuss her career, her life and sign copies of her new memoir at a Chicago Humanities Festival-sponsored program 6 p.m. tonight at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Tickets are available at the Chicago Humanities Festival website or by calling 312-494-9509 until 2 p.m. today, and then will be available at the door for $5 more per ticket. (112 S. Michigan Ave., ballroom.)
