Not Hot Doug's, according to website The Daily Meal, which put together a list of the best hot dogs in America and determined that honor goes to a classic hot dog stand a dozen miles south.

The Daily Meal called the Mighty Dog at Fat Johnnie's Famous Red Hots in Marquette Park the best hot dog in America. Much respect, folks, and we have no qualms with that. Here's what I wrote about the Mighty Dog in our best hot dogs list last year.

This South side shack is best known for having the best mother-in-law (a tamale served with chili on a hot dog bun) in Chicago but they really up the ante with the Mighty Dog— a hot dog and a tamale served with chili and all the trimmings of a Chicago-style hot dog, plus raw cucumber slices. Bring some antacid with you—you'll need it.

it is a glorious wiener, ladies and gentlemen, and worth a field trip to the Southwest side to buy. Hie thee!

Five other local hot dog stands made The Daily Meal's list of the 50 best in the country including Superdawg (22nd); Murphy's Red Hots (19th); Wiener's Circle (14th); Byron's (11th); and Hot Doug's landing in fourth place.
