Nashville's Blank Range prefers to release their work on magnetic tape or vinyl. We feel the need to bring this up first and foremost because it really does have a direct effect on the music they release. This is a band looking to the past, sometimes wistfully, and their music reflects that viewpoint. Luckily for us they're not mired in days gone by and their most recent 7" show us a band ready to race into the future. Onto laser disc perhaps? Baby steps, guys; we like what you're doing so there's no need for any drastic changes.
Catch the band tonight at Schubas and stream their latest release below to get an earful of what we're talking about above.
Blank Range play with the most excellent Sabers and Grandkids tonight, May 30, at Schubas, 9 p.m., $8, 21+
