Jackalope Theatre's 'Exit Strategy.'

A musical Jesus, public school closings and one of Stephen King's most famous anti-heroines take the stage this week.

Carrie the Musical
Yes, that Carrie. Stephen King’s outraged misfit gets the musical theater treatment at Victory Gardens. Burgeoning fave Callie Johnson takes the reigns as the title character. The show runs through Saturday, July 12.

Bailiwick Chicago, Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave., 773-969-6201 or online.

Godspell
The Marriott is taking on the Stephen Schwartz quirky classic—following the direction of the recent revival on Broadway—about the teachings of the Bible, as told by Jesus and his apostles. The show runs Wednesday, June 4 through Sunday, Aug. 10.

Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Dr., Lincolnshire, 847-634-0200 or online.

Exit Strategy
Hitting a topical nerve, Jackalope Theatre's latest production follows a Chicago public high school that’s slated for closure at the end of the year—unless a small group of determined teachers risk their careers to stop it. The show runs through Sunday, June 29.

Jackalope Theatre at the Broadway Armory, 5917 N. Broadway, 773-340-2543 or online.
