Chicago Bike Week is coming up. From June 13 through June 20, the city has set up a litany of events across the city to encourage people to bike throughout Chicago including a bike valet at the Chicago Blues Festival, bike-themed film screenings at Millennium Park, Divvy pop-up shops, neighborhood tours and spin classes before culminating in the annual Bike to Work Rally June 20. It’s all part of Bike Chicago 2014, the city’s year-long celebration of pedal power.

The Active Transportation Alliance is getting involved and is asking for individuals and teams to participate in its annual Bike Commuter Challenge. More than 7,000 people at 450 companies are expected to participate. Twenty percent are biking to work for the first time and 40 percent are women. It’s free to register and you don’t even have to completely bike to work. You can park your bike at a train station and complete your commute via public transit. The overarching goal is to leave your car at home and kickstart your day on two wheels.

Register a team at work and Active Trans will give you everything you need to get your team going.
