Pencil This In: Story Club Is Five Damn Years Old

By Staff in Arts & Entertainment on Jun 5, 2014 5:30PM

2014_06_story_club_logo.jpg Every third Thursday of the month, Story Club showcases featured performers and a few brave souls willing to step up to an open mic session. Dana Norris, founder of Story Club, aims to cultivate an all-inclusive community, creating a space for aspiring readers and writers to share their work, even as featured performers. If you want to be a featured performer, all you have to do is attend one Story Club event and then submit your non-fiction narrative to Dana in order to be considered.

Story Club is celebrating Five Damn Years at Chicago’s Holiday Club (4000 N Sheridan Rd, Chicago, IL 60613) tonight, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. The Live Lit event is free and open to the public—literarily inclined or not.

This month’s featured performers include the recently famed Chicagoan, Megan Stielstra, author of Once I Was Cool, and Shannon Cason, champion of Chicago Moth GrandSLAM. Both authors are also reading at the Printer’s Row Lit Fest this coming weekend, June 7-8.
