Download The First New Giorgio Moroder Solo Jam In 22 Years

Adult Swim has kicked off the latest installment of their annual singles series, where they get incredibly famous people to record original songs they then release for free. The first single this year comes from a little up-and-comer named Giorgio Moroder: we think this kid is going places!

All kidding aside, this is Moroder's first piece of solo music in 22 years but have no fear, it sounds exactly like you would expect. "Giorgio's Theme" is a lovely driving, gently bubbling as you find it rewinding, piece of music.

It's a welcome return from a man credited with being one of the founding father's of what would turn into modern electronic dance music. While his earlier work was more bubblegum rock than electronic pop, once he found a recipe that worked he stuck with it. His work with Donna Summer, especially, fired up dance floor (and heated up many a couple's steamy make-out session) in the '70s and beyond. Most recently Moroder returned to the public eye via a guest turn of the latest album from Daft Punk, a move that served to show how timely his presence still was and demonstrated just how strong his influence was on the generations to follow him.

Moroder will be in Chicago next month to play the Pitchfork Music Festival on July 18 and tickets are still available.
