A couple weeks back a Hidden Cash copycat made waves for hiding envelopes full of money in Humboldt Park and sparking a Twitter frenzy of folks searching for them. Now the Hidden Cash folks that started it all on the West Coast is coming to Chicago Sunday.

Jason Buzi, one of the founders of the @hiddencash Twitter feed, told RedEye Chicago was always on their short list of cities to do a cash drop. This week Buzi and his partners have planted envelopes in Las Vegas and they have drops planned Saturday in New York City, Mexico City and Houston. Buzi said $2,000 will be hidden in envelopes in a local park and hints as to their locations will be revealed on the Hidden Cash Twitter feed.

All Buzi asks of the people who find the envelopes (and the Hidden Cash copycats) is they pay it forward and use the money for people in need. As for how long he and his partners can continue Hidden Cash drops, Buzi said "we can sustain it, in some sense, forever."

“What’s it going to look like six months from now, two years from now? Is it going to be like hiding cash in five cities in one weekend? Probably not, it will look a little different. … We want to sustain it perpetually in some format.”
