A high school reunion in East Peoria turned deadly Saturday night as a man shot and killed his ex-wife and her boyfriend before being struck and killed by a off-duty FBI agent.

Lori Moore, 33, of Morton, Illinois and her boyfriend, Lance Griffel, 36, of East Peoria were attending Moore’s reunion of the East Peoria High School Class of 1999 at The Fifth Quarter Sports Bar and Pizzeria when Moore’s ex-husband, Jason A. Moore, 40, entered, pulled out his gun and fired single shots into his ex-wife’s and Griffel’s heads. The FBI agent then drew his gun and shot Jason Moore. Lori Moore and Griffel were pronounced dead within two hours of each other at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Jason Moore, of Creve Coeur, was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m. East Peoria police officers are classifying the incident as a domestic violence dispute. Lori Moore filed for divorce from her husband in March 2013 and the divorce was finalized two months later.

East Peoria Police Chief Ganschow said the actions of the off-duty FBI agent may have helped prevent further violence.

"It's very difficult to say. You can play the 'what if' game over and over again, but I think it's pretty clear in his case the presence of this officer and his ability to take very quick and very decisive action prevented a further tragedy,”

More than 100 people provided eyewitness accounts of the shooting to police.
