There comes a time when we need to ask ourselves whether OK Go is helping or hurting themselves with their steady stream of insanely inventive videos. To most folks this has come to overshadow the band's actual musical output, which is a shame since they are certainly getting better and stronger with every album. It's been four years since their last LP, but this fall will finally give us all new material from the band when Hungry Ghosts is released. "The Writing's On The Wall" is the first video from the forthcoming album, and shows the band is still in fine musical form. The band is running a Pledge Music campaign and the video was released to the public yesterday along with an EP of songs from Hungry Ghosts that was made available to fans who had pre-ordered the album.

So to answer our question at the outset of this post, is OK Go helping or hurting themselves with these videos, we say we don't care. Anything that gets folks talking about them and might push them towards their music is OK in our book, especially if the band keeps their head in the clouds and their output sails high.

OK Go plays Lincoln Hall on August 15.
