Pencil This In: 'Filth' With Irvine Welsh At The Music Box Theatre
By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Jun 19, 2014 5:30PM
Irvine Welsh's 1998 novel Filth was adapted into a film released in the United Kingdom last year with James McAvoy in the lead role of Bruce Robertson, a misanthropic police officer aiming for a promotion and win back his ex-wife and daughter, if he can only solve a murder, all while his vices gain a tighter grip on him and his mental state begins to deteriorate.
The Music Box Theatre is screening Filth, with Welsh in attendance for a Q&A with Gapers Block film critic Steve Prokopy, 6:30 p.m. June 20. Tickets are still available as of post time. They cost $10 and can be bought online here (3733 N. Southport Ave.)
