We can only imagine living in Denton, TX must be a mind-blowing experience considering the music that flows out of that town. Bands from there tend to have a frenzied approach to rock that's rooted in garage punk but never abandons the hook. Radioactivity and Bad Sports continue that tradition. Both of those bands are making their way across country touring together and tonight they land at The Empty Bottle for what we hope to be an explosive show.

Radioactivity is the new-ish project from Jeff Burn and Mark Ryan of Marked Men. They're joined by Gregory Rutherford and Daniel Fried to create the sound of teenage abandon that courses through their self-titled debut. It sounds like it was recorded in a sweaty closet by a bunch of dudes equally into amphetamines, The Flamin' Groovies and Tiger Beat. Have a listen.

Bad Sports are the guys across the parking lot with greased hair and wallet chains. Their music is rooted in something closer to R&B than the garage, but it's still got enough punk spunk in there to keep it from getting too pretty. Don't let their rough demeanor and sound fool you though, these are guys whose hearts course with the tears of romanticism. Their latest album, Bras, is filled with the angstier side of the teen and young adult years, but it's still a a party to listen to.
