Chicago Pastor Calls For Occupation Of 500 Street Corners In Order To Curb City's Gun Violence

Pastor Corey Brooks, the “rooftop pastor” of New Beginnings Church in Woodlawn who camped out atop a South Side motel for nearly three months two years ago, is calling for 5,000 Chicago men and 5,000 Chicago women to occupy 500 Chicago street corners in order to curb gun violence in the city.
Brooks' initiatives, called Brothers on the Block and Sisters on the Street, respectively, launched in May.

This weekend, 9 people have been shot, including a 16-year-old boy.
