2014_06_printers_ball.jpg Book nerds, design lovers and print-makers rejoice. The Printers Ball returns to Spudnik Press Cooperative at Hubbard Street Lofts this Saturday evening and rings in its 10th year of celebrating literary culture in Chicago. For those unfamiliar with the event, Printers Ball works to bring together creative minds from all over the country for a free night of innovative festivities.

Attendees exploring the halls of Hubbard Street Lofts will find that there’s really something for everyone. Bibliophiles can find a new summer read at the book exchange, while designers can learn the art of letterpress printing with hands-on instructional demos. Other event highlights include a conversation with iconic book cover designer Chip Kidd and Dana Arnett, founder of VSA Partners Chicago.

Lit-lovers looking to dip their toes intro to the Chicago literary scene can enjoy 10 pop-up events from some of the most exciting and innovative reading and performance series from all over the city. For take-home reading, event goers can visit Printers Ball signature event, The Book Tote, which will feature magazines and publications for attendees to peruse from over 400 national publishers and presses.

Don't forget to enjoy food from local vendors and grab a beer in the beer garden curated by Maria’s Packaged Goods. Bookworms who need a dance break between events can head outdoors and stop by the DJ tent to hear sets from Itzi Nallah and Odd Obsession.

Again, the event is FREE, but a donation to support the festivities is encouraged. We also recommend RSVPing to secure your spot in all the fun. You can see a full list of Printers Ball events and official schedule here.

Saturday, June 28 at Hubbard Street Lofts, 1821 W. Hubbard St., 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
