A Chicago author who travels to Spain every summer to participate in the running of the bulls in Pamplona was gored by one (discretion advised if you click that link as it shows photos of Hillmann being gored) during Wednesday morning’s run. Bill Hillmann, 32, suffered two wounds on his lower right thigh: one near his knee, the other in the interior area of his thigh. Hillmann’s wounds are not life-threatening.

Hillmann has written extensively about his experiences participating in the annual festival and co-wrote a book called ”How to Survive the Running of the Bulls." His debut novel, The Old Neighborhood, was published by Curbside Splendor publishing in the spring and received positive reviews in the Reader and Tribune. Hillmann’s latest visit to Pamplona has been snakebitten, to say the least. He also lost his passport, laptop computer and some medication July 6.
