There are still tickets available to tonight's show at City Winery featuring Ralph Stanley and His Clinch Mountain Boys. Stanley is a bluegrass legend for his high mountain holler and his "clawhammer" banjo technique. By picking with three fingers in a continuous series of rolls close to the instrument's bridge, giving the strings a distinct resonance. His reedy tenor is as old as the hills of southwestern Virginia he still calls home and commands attention and respect.

Stanley has ridden a wave of popularity in the twilight of his career ever since his version of "O Death" from the "O Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack won him a Grammy in 2002. In the pristine acoustics of City Winery this could wind up being a transcendent show. (1400 W. Randolph St.)
