Pitchfork Festival Interviews: Speedy Ortiz

Speedy Ortiz had the honor of waking up Sunday's crowd at Pitchfork Festival with their brand of rock, which we raved about earlier this morning including their shout out to Wesley Willis. The band has been touring heavily since releasing their debut album, Major Arcana, last year. They've played everywhere, from basement DIY shows to large international festivals and had a few days to relax and enjoy the sounds in Union Park. Post festival they'll hit the road again and already have their next Chicago date, October 25 at the Empty Bottle, set.
We were able to catch up with the Massachusetts band while Grimes wrapped up her set behind us Sunday evening. They shared with us their pros and cons of touring life, spoke about lead singer and guitarist Sadie Dupuis's love of Earl Sweatshirt [and how him not canceling his Pitchfork set (despite canceling the rest of his tour) might have broken their band curse] and how the band hopes to one day play on the moon. Just after they reach the goal of playing in a tanning salon first.
