Both North and South Siders alike cruised to victories on account of some heavy hitting. Here's your morning box score:

Sox 9, Twins 5

The Tribune reports the White Sox, in their 9-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins, scored their most runs as a team since May. We should hope they did so, on account of the 17 hits they mustered against the Twins, including a three-run homer from Sox first baseman Jose Abreu. Read more about the score here.

Cubs 7, Cardinals 6

They barely pulled it off, but pull it off they did as the Chicago Cubs scored a slim win against the St. Louis Cardinals in a game ESPN called a "a wild back-and-forth." After an early Cardinals lead, the Cubs bounced back thanks to a three-run homer from Ryan Sweeney to tie the score in the second inning. Clutch hitting in later innings helped the Cubs sealed the victory for good. Read more here.
