Eclipse Theatre Company's 'Intimate Apparel.'
The north side is teeming with theater options this weekend, from a cult musical classic to a gripping historical biopic.
Cult classic Reefer Madness is a tongue-in-cheek look at good high school students who fall into the “ills” of marijuana, which, in this show, involves an insanely hilarious downward spiral into violence and evil-doing. The show runs Friday, Aug. 8 through Friday, Aug. 22.
Mayne Stage & Act One Pub, 1330 W. Morse Ave., 866-468-3401 or online.
Christine Whitley’s intriguing new drama follows a desperate on-the-run couple caught up in the underbelly of high-stakes pool. The show runs Tuesday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 31.
The Side Project Theatre Company, 1439 W. Jarvis, 773-340-0140 or online.
Intimate Apparel
Eclipse Theatre Company has chosen to honor Lynn Nottage this season, and the next play in rotation is her subtly heroic tale of Esther Mills, an African-American seamstress in 1905 Manhattan who sews undergarments for prostitutes and society ladies alike. The show runs through Sunday, Aug. 24.
Eclipse Theatre Company at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport, 773-728-2216 or online.
