Pencil This In: Step Up Women's Network's 'Shine & Dine' Benefit

The Step Up Women's Network's fourth annual "Shine & Dine" takes place 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Bridgeport Art Center. Step Up's programs empowers teen girls in Chicago's under-resourced communities to become confident, college-bound and career-focused, and the event brings together some of Chicago's best chefs and restaurants for an evening of great food, philanthropy and networking. The benefit will honor Check, Please! host Catherine De Orio and Kenia Rodriguez, a young woman who benefited from Step Up's programming and is on track to graduate from DePaul university in 2016.

Tickets to the event are available online. (The Bridgeport Art Center is located at 1200 W. 35th St.)
