While summer movies are often synonymous with superheroes and big-name action stars, the Music Box Theatre wants to reminds us it's also a time to remember the Music Movie genre. This week the Music Box Theatre announced its lineup for the 4th Annual Summer Music Film Festival. Co-sponsored by Sound Opinions, this year's fest will celebrate the milestone anniversaries of three influential classics.

Stop Making Sense, Talking Heads' Jonathan Demme-directed ultimate live concert flick kicks things off Friday night in celebration of its 30th anniversary with hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot. Also celebrating the big 3-0 is Prince's sort of autobiographical and iconic Purple Rain. Other festival highlights include a 50th anniversary screenings of A Hard Days Night, returning for a second-run this summer after sold out screenings in July.

Other scheduled highlights include the Chicago premiere of God Help the Girl, a musical written and directed by Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian and Finding Fela a documentary chronicling the life and music of Nigerian Afrobeat singer Fela Kuti. And if you're itching for a good sing-along, don't worry; there will be a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
