Make-Overs play the International Garage Takeover tonight at The Hideout.

The Hideout’s musical selections have always had a big emphasis on local acts, making it one of the best spots to catch Chicago favorites as well as lesser-known bands. But tonight, the Noble Square venue is taking a global approach with the International Garage Takeover.

The show presents four radical garage-rocking bands, two of which are beloved locals: Uh Bones with their lo-fi sixties vibe and White Mystery with their fiery rock tunes. We dig these guys, but the highlights of the night will be the acts that we may never have the chance to see again. As the Reader points out, this show serves as a sort of send off for the raucous Make-Overs, who arrived from South Africa for Do-Division and, following tonight’s show, will return home after making Chicago their temporary home for some nine weeks. Sultan Bathery, who just arrived from Italy to start their U.S. tour, will also perform—check out their self-titled LP over at their Bandcamp page before catching them live tonight.

The International Garage Takeover is tonight, Friday, Aug. 8 at The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia, 9 p.m., $10 at the door
