'Sonic Highways' full album cover

We've known for a while that one of the reasons Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters were spending so much time eating at Piece and riding the "L" a few months ago was related to the recording of the new Foo Fighters album—and documentary—in several different cities. The band hit up recording studios in Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C. to craft their new LP, Sonic Highways. And alongside those recording sessions Grohl interviewed local luminaries. For instance in Chicago we don't know who made the cut but we do know he spoke to classic rockers including Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen as well as legendary punk rock acts that proved incredibly influential on Grohl in his teenage years.

You can view the full CD album cover above, and see how it mixes all of the cities visited into a single megatropolis. But if you buy the vinyl version of the album, you can choose which city you'd prefer featured. We would of course choose Chicago, below. But you can view all the individual options here.
