We've always been big fans at Chicagoist of the interesting programing and content the Chicago Film Archives finds and presents throughout the city. Their collection is a vast and fascinating peek into multiple facets of history in the Midwest and beyond. With their latest project, CFA Crashers, they are handing over the reins to some other notable locals who will present their own evening of film on the second Tuesday of the month at the Hideout. The series kicks off tonight with selections from Chicago-based journalist and author Jessica Hopper. Hopper is responsible for the book The Girls Guide to Rocking, and is music editor at Rookie, so it isn't any surprise she has an evening examining women hard at work.

First up is Women in Business, a 24-minute film from 1980 that profiles six different women who successfully started their own companies ranging from a security guard firm to a cooking school. Following the first film is a look at the discrimination many women faced (and still face today) in the workplace with a showing of The Willmar 8. The film tells the story of a group of brave women who stood up against sex discrimination, creating the longest bank strike in American history and forcing the issue at hand.

The topics will change each month with each curator (full list here) and all will be presented in 16mm. CFA also promises some food trucks and general snacking options in the works. Check out the full list of programming on their site and head out tonight and enjoy the first installment of CFA Crashers.

CFA Crasher: Jessica Hopper is tonight, Aug. 12 at the Hideout (1354 West Wabansia Ave) from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5 and the event is 21+
