Watch: Bed Bugs On The CTA?
By Jon Graef in News on Aug 16, 2014 6:30PM
Via Gapers Block comes video purportedly showing bed bugs on the CTA Red Line.
For its part, CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase told RedEye pun maestro Tracy Swartz that the agency had "no confirmed reports" of bed bugs, adding that the agency "take[s] this stuff really seriously." [We should hope so!]
Swartz explains what the CTA does in these alleged instances.
If a rider spots a bug or a pest on a bus or train and alerts the CTA, the agency pulls the rail car or bus from service, Chase said. A pest company then will inspect the car or bus and fumigate it even if nothing is found.
Since being uploaded on Aug. 12, the video has been watched 8,000 times. Watch your worst nightmare below:
Last year, Chicago ranked first for bed bug infestations. The City of Chicago has a bed bug fact sheet you can use.
