The streetlamps are on in front of Chicagoist's Bridgeport headquarters and a steady rain is falling. That's the tone being set today as we're in store for thunderstorms and cloudy skies through at least the early afternoon. Skilling Central says things will turn partly sunny and very humid in the mid- to late afternoon. If you live and/or work in the outlying areas, take note: temperatures could reach 90 degrees with heat indices in the triple digits. Drink plenty of fluids and keep your exposure outside to a minimum.

As we head into the evening storms are expected to reappear with lows dropping only to the lower 70s, meaning it's going to finally feel like a typical Midwestern summer by the time we reach the weekend. A part of us is welcoming this.
