The Anti-Cruelty Society is one of the great organizations in Chicago giving cats and dogs a safe haven on the road to finding their forever home. If you've been thinking about adopting a new dog or cat into your family, tonight or tomorrow might be just the right time to find your new furry friend at The Anti-Cruelty Society.

We found out that starting earlier today, they kicked off their "Empty Our Shelter" event, where they are waiving fees for all adoptions at their 510 N. LaSalle location today and tomorrow. The event goes on tonight until 7 p.m. and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, but already today 43 cats and dogs have found a new home! And besides adopting your new friend, you can check out the other services Anti-Cruelty offers which include low or no cost spay and neuter, dog training classes and their free behavior hotline.

We checked out some of the cuties currently available on their website (although we'd like to think our favorites are heading to a wonderful new home already) and here are some of our favorite picks:

-Teemu is a beautiful grey domestic shorthair kitten who is just over 10 months old. He is a kitten, so he will need a little guidance from his owner, especially with those wide mischievous eyes! Check out Teemu here.

-Chelsea del toro is a chow mix who is just over a year old. She has a fluffy beautiful black coat and a sassy smile. She gets along well with other dogs and the shelter describes her as goofy and gentle. Check out Chelsea here.

-Calista is a regal grey, orange and white domestic shorthair who is 5 years and 5 months old. She loves to be petted and has a super sweet face. Check out Calista here.

-Lady is a 7 month old retriever and shepherd mix whit a giant happy smile and cute floppy ears. The shelter describes her as a mild and sensitive girl. She needs a little help building her confidence, but with a smile like that she looks very eager to try her best. Check out Lady here.

-Little Sox is a 10-year, 5-month old domestic shorthair mix who has adorable black and white coloring, including a pretty spiffy mustache. The shelter describes him as fun, curious and super friendly. Check out Little Sox here.
