A murder mystery, a one-man historical drama and a heart-wrenching coming-of-age story, all on the Chicago stage this week.

The Game’s Afoot
Drury Lane’s late-summer offering is kooky whodunit, murder myster-style. Expect a heavy dose of mistaken identities, physical comedy and easy summertime laughs. The show runs Thursday, Aug. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 19.

Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, 630-530-0111 or online.

Churchill
History nerds, take note: SoloChicago’s latest one-man show is based on Winston Churchill’s own post-World War II writings when he lost the election and is forced into retirement. The show runs through Sunday, Sept. 14.

SoloChicago at Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln, 773-404-7336 or online.

My Name is Asher Lev
Based on the novel of the same name, Asher Lev is the story of a young Jewish artist who faces a tough choice: obey his religion, family and community, or strike out on his own and become a painter.

TimeLine Theatre at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, 773-281-8463 or online.
