Today's Weather: Weather Warning Warm-Up

By Jon Graef in News on Aug 24, 2014 2:30PM

The suffocating humidity which has defined the last several days of weather broke yesterday after what were some intense thunderstorms, making for a nice, cool summer evening. We may not get such a lucky respite today.

The National Weather Service calls for highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, with a peak heat index around 100 degrees. They've already issued a special weather statement about the heat and humidity expected to start the week. Skilling concurs, saying we're due for a high of 91 degrees, and that we're also due for strong, but scattered, storms later this evening.

The only outlier here is Accuweather, who call for a mild, cloudless, but still humid, day of sunny weather, with a high around 80 degrees. Think about it like this: if you prepare for the worst, you may be pleasantly surprised when it doesn't materialize. Until then, drink plenty of water and stay in the shade.
