Many, if not most, of us have enjoyed this mild summer with its 70 and 80-degree temperatures and mild breezes. Then there are those of us who thrive in the heat and humidity of the marshland upon which Chicago was built. Today's forecast is for those people. Skilling Central calls today's weather the highest combination of heat and humidity of the season.

How high? How about a high in the mid-90s and muggy air bolstered by south-to-southwest winds at 10-15 mph? Some children will be heading back to school this week. Let's hope their classrooms have air conditioning. There may be a thunderstorm in the afternoon followed by more storms overnight and another muggy day Tuesday before the pleasant climes we've enjoyed this summer return in time for the Labor Day holiday.

This week traditionally marks the end of summer in Chicago (even though we still have a few weeks remaining). It's finally here in its brutal glory.
