The Kickback

The Kickback at Schubas
We'll rave about The Kickback any chance we get, since they are easily one of our favorite local acts to emerge in the last few years. The band has been working tirelessly on new material, despite their full-length debut still yet to be released, so expect to hear the unexpected at the show tonight. Their performances are always incredible, and incredibly immediate and authentic, so this show is a sure winner.

Friday, Sept. 5, at Schubas, 3159 N Southport, 10 p.m., $10, 18+

The Hideout Block Party & Onion A.V. Fest
This two day fest outside The Hideout has Death Cab For Cutie, The War On Drugs, The Handsome Family, Dismemberment Plan, a bunch of other great acts that span just about every genre and the return of our favorite orator Tim Tuten. Throw in the fact that a portion of every ticket sold will benefit a variety of Chicago charities, including Foundations of Music (formerly known as Rock For Kids), and you've got a can't lose affair.

Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-6, at The Hideout, $39-$65

Joyce Manor at Bottom Lounge
Joyce Manor's Never Hungover Again is a solid slice of pop punk tinged with emo. Think Smoking Popes meets Promise Ring and you've pretty much mentally nailed what they're aiming for. The fact they can keep it up sans clunkers for the length of an LP is really impressive though. This feels to be a good fist pumping, good time vibes rock show.

Saturday, Sept. 6, at Bottom Lounge, 7:30 p.m., $13, all ages
