With this sudden fall weather settling upon across Chicago, we’re craving something to warm us up, especially hearty ramen. Bill Kim sure lucked out with the sudden chill across the city, since it set the mood perfectly to announce he’ll be hosting Ramenfest 2014 Nov. 8 at his West Loop restaurant BellyQ. Not only will you get to enjoy delicious ramen from each chef, but a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Common Threads, a non-profit that helps educate children about different cultures through food and art, founded by Chicago chef Art Smith.

Ramenfest will see a bevy of notable chefs from around the city, both those well versed in making ramen and those who are ramen chef novices, create their own version of the beloved traditional dish. Sure, we love the inventive ramen coming out of Matthias Merges' kitchen at Yusho and we know he’ll bring an excellent ramen to the table, but we’re most excited to see what creations some of the other surprising chefs on the bill dish out. We love the New American cuisine Heather Terhune produces at Sable and are interested to see how she translates her bold flavors to a noodle and broth bowl. Same goes for the Honey Butter Chicken team of Christine Cikowski, Josh Kulp and Cam Waron, since we usually don’t think of ramen in the same realm of fried chicken. Other chefs we’re looking forward to seeing push their creative limits into a bowl of ramen include Chris Panel from The Bristol and Balena, Giuseppe Tentori of GT Fish & Oyster and Cosmo Goss of The Publican.

Each ticket will include a sample of ramen from each chef as well as one drink ticket. But get ready to hit refresh on Oct. 1 at midnight, when the second round of tickets are up for grabs. The first round of tickets sold out, although you can contact them to be added to the wait list. The next batch of tickets will be $65 each, and the third batch of tickets will be $75 and will be released on Nov. 1 at midnight. Tickets are available here.
