The White Sox's game was postponed, the Cubs were crushed by the Pirates, and the Chicago Sky were swept out of the WNBA Finals. Here's your sobering morning box score:
The Pittsburgh Pirates made off with the Cubs' baseball booty by a 7-3 score. The Pirates are on something of a hot streak, having won seven of their last eight games. Javier Baez and Arismendy Alcantara both homered, which at least serves as a bright spot on what was the Cubs' seventh straight loss. Of note: Tsuyoshi Wada, who pitched last night's game for the Cubs, will not have his 2015 option contract picked up.
Sox, Twins: Postponed
Last night's game between the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins was postponed because of rain. The Sox will pick up the game today with a doubleheader.
At least they made it close. The Chicago Sky, who, for the first time in franchise history, made it to the WNBA finals. The first two games were not pretty, though, as the Sky were blown out by a capable Mercury club. With a hometown crowd watching, the Sky put up a fight as best they could. But it was not to be. The Chicago Sky were swept out completely, despite their efforts. Oh well. As they saying around here goes: wait til next year.
