The Breeders, Twin Peaks Headline Goose Island 312 Urban Block Party

2014_9_19_breeders.jpg Summer is dwindling down and this weekend is the last opportunity to get all weird and wild at a summer festival. Fortunately, the Goose Island Urban Block Party is returning for its third year tomorrow night at the Fulton Street Brewery.

For a fest that flew a little under the radar this year, the music lineup is impressive. It’s divided into two stages, one dedicated to local acts and a main stage for the out of towners. The brewery somehow managed to get The Breeders on the bill this year, and we’re stoked to see them in a capacity that doesn’t involve multi-level venues or the drunk chaotic crowds of Pitchfork.

They’ll be gracing the main stage along with surf-pop act Cayucas, New Zealand rockers Unknown Mortal Orchestra and folk rockers Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. Over on the local stage is where you’ll find three of Chicago’s most beloved: Twin Peaks, Heavy Times and Secret Colours.

And, of course, the beer will be flowing. Goose Island is busting out some of its rare and exclusive brews from its secret stash as well as the brewery’s Fulton and Wood series. There will also be some collaboration beers, including Recommended Pilsner created with the help of the guys at Pitchfork.com and SVE Kolsch made in collaboration with the always alluring songstress Sharon Van Etten.

Goose Island Urban Block Party is Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Fulton Street Brewery, 1800 W. Fulton, 4 p.m., $10, 21+
