Morning Box Score: Sox Win Over Royals, Honor Konerko; Cubs Lose To Brewers

The White Sox honored the retiring Paul Konerko with a pregame ceremony--and a win. Meanwhile, the Cubs lost to the Brewers. Here's your morning box score.
Jose Abrieu broke the White Sox record for most home runs by a rookie, helping the Sox take a solid lead with a three-run first inning. Doing his part as well was Sox catcher Jose Phegley, who homered in the second and seventh innings. It looked dicey there for a while, as the Royals mounted an eight-inning rally, but a potential comeback victory ultimately did not materialize. Pitcher Jave Guerra earned his first save of the season. Before the game, the Sox held a ceremony honoring Paul Konerko, who retires after today's season finale. (If you missed it, don't worry. It's gonna be our weekend theatre.)
The Cubs only managed five hits against the Brewers for their one-run loss Saturday. The Cubs snapped a three-game winning streak, which is too bad. The game was tied 1-1 until
two doubles by Brewers batters Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy helped sealed the Milwaukee's team victory for good.
